My husband and I love to travel, and even more so now that we have our little girl.  So soon as we had a 3-day weekend, we packed up our bags and hit the road to one of our favorite spots in Louisiana --- New Orleans!

Because we had a 10-month old baby in tow, we knew our itinerary would be different this time around, but fun nonetheless.

We embarked on our 5-hour road trip before the crack of dawn to ensure we made it to New Orleans just in time for some delicious charbroiled oysters and seafood gumbo at one of our favorite spots on the French Quarter - the Acme Oyster House.


The line was a bit long, but oh so worth it!  Even our little munchkin enjoyed the menu. 




With our baby on the stroller, it was rather easy to navigate through the streets of New Orleans.  We even made our way down Bourbon Street because, well, everyone has to experience it!  And we were actually pleasantly surprised to see how many families were strolling down Bourbon during the day with their little ones.


Later that evening, we wandered through the Garden District to admire the architecture of the homes there.




On our second day, we checked out the cemeteries, which are above-ground tombs referred to as the "cities of the dead".  At first I didn't understand what the big deal was, but once you step into these cemeteries, you are blown away by the magnitude of these tombs.





So no, this time around we didn't party until wee hours of the morning, but we still enjoyed our trip very much because that's the beauty of jazzy New Orleans.  It's one of those places where folks from all walks of life can find something fun to do.

If you've been wanting to take a trip to New Orleans but hesitate because you have little ones, we hope this will inspire you.

We've been married and living together for nearly three months now, and we've yet to hang up any pictures, art or decor on our walls - nothing.  In fact, there's still a few unopened boxes here and there, and we avoid the garage at all costs since there's still furniture waiting there.

But as bare as our walls may be and as mismatched as our furniture is, it still has that warm cozy feeling every time we walk in.  It's not the decorations, or the family pictures or the furniture that make a place 'home'.  It's the people that live in it, and in our case, the DOGS!

We are a family of four, for now.  When kids come along, it'll be four plus 1, 2 or how ever many children we have.  If you're a dog lover like us, you'll understand how these amazing creatures become a part of your family because nothing beats fumbling to unlock your front door and hearing their paws scrambling down the stairs racing to greet you after a long day at work.  Or taking road trips with the dogs eager to take the front passenger seat!




Or best of all, simply enjoying a relaxing Sunday afternoon with your dogs bumming out on the sofa alongside you and your love.



If you have a dog waiting for you at home, make sure to let them know how much you love their furry faces!  Because without them, your house would really be empty.
